Lots going on at the club right now as ever. We are nudging towards 50 members, which is great to see so please ensure all of you are officially signed up and encourage others to come along and join us.
There have been quite a few half marathon events taking place recently, with Ealing amd Windsor as well as Beat Box Hill 10k in particular having SHAEF turnout. Kingston half is this weekend (i think…) and then CP10 next weekend.
Last week the club committee held its latest quarterly meeting. We were lucky enough to start in Teddington and finish in The Olde Swan by the river in Thames Ditton. The journey delightfully took place along the river with Louise expertly navigating us along the route…
Various topics were discussed, some of which you will see updated on the website if you have a look around and some others are to come. Some of the points you may be interested in:
Club Kit:
New Balance have annoyingly gone quiet on their commitment to offer their range of SHAEF kit via an online shop. Owen has been working with Hugga, who should have this option available quickly to us, to supply the kit. The design will match the current kit. Some samples should be available to check for sizing etc at CP10 and then a bulk order will go in followed by the individual orders online.
Green Belt Relay:
Entries for next year are now open. We all agreed this (and other relays) was a highlight last year and we intend to enter at least one team for 2019. If there is sufficient interest we may enter a second team or ‘share’ a team as we did last year.
We’ll be sending out a request shortly to gage numbers.
Run Schedule:
We have had the club Tue/Thu/Sun schedule for a while now and this seems to work well, but would like to have a recurring session where we encourage as many members as possible to join and also for new members to come along to. This will be the first Thursday of every month. Please do your best to join this run … we may well head off for a quick social afterwards as well depending in interest.
London Marathon:
The one club place for the VMLM should be confirmed in the next couple of weeks. Current club members who were unsuccessful in the ballot can enter the draw for this place. We’ll confirm when and where this will take place but please keep your rejection letter as this will be your entry into our draw!
That’s all for now.
Ian.
