Club news - 23/04/19

Reminder of upcoming dates:

London Marathon: Sunday 28th April

This weekend the London marathon is taking place. At the last count we have club members Gary, Clayton, Rob J, Owen and Nardia taking part. Commiserations to Stew who was due to be competing but injury has put paid to his hopes for this year. Good luck to all of you who are taking part and there’ll be many other SHAEF crew out on the streets cheering you on. Main gathering point seems to be Embankment -hope to see a few of you there! Similar to last year, we’ll try and dissect performances over a beer in the vicinity afterwards.

A week on Thursday is the first Thursday of the month, so we encourage all members to get themselves down for a steady group run. With decent numbers it should ensure everyone is happily running with others at a pace they are comfortable with.

Greenbelt relay is also getting closer. Rodney has been working his spreadsheet magic so we should now have a plan that works. There’ll be a broader comms on this imminently and a dedicated WhatsApp group is already up and running.

The AGM follows shortly after. Look out for further details from Nick on plans for this. Look forward to having another excellent turnout to celebrate the year for the club. This will also include details on membership renewals for 2019/20.

Also to remind, as if needed, that the Arethusa mile is about to start up again and also that dates are now confirmed for Harry Hawkes 10 (Sunday 23rd June) Wedding Day 7k (Friday 26th July) and Cabbage Patch 10 (Sunday 13th October). WD7k not yet open to entries, but the other two are. A few other reminders further afield, on 6th July is the Night of the 10,000 pubs, and we are looking to get a good group down to watch that. In the past is clashed with greenbelt but not this year! There is then also the anniversary games which a good few are going to watch and then in the autumn on the weekend of 20th October is international weekend in Bruges. A group of us are heading over for the half marathon, which sounds excellent. Please shout if you are interested in joining.
