Dear members,
Thank you for your membership of SHAEF Shifters Running Club. Our new club year starts 1st April and you will shortly be receiving a membership renewal notification for 2023/24 via the England Athletics (EA) portal. The club will continue to affiliate to EA and so you will also have an option for individual athlete registration with EA. We have kept the club membership fee at £10 but EA annual registration has increased by £1 to £17. You can find the benefits of EA registration by following this link… EA registration benefits.
We are all looking forward to the surge in running events in the weeks and months ahead. The Spring marathon season is back to normal this year, followed by the ever popular Green Belt (13-14 May) and the Imber Court (July) relays. We have signed up for the Surrey Road League again this year which counts the local Cabbage Patch and, for the 1st time, the Wedding Day 7k events among this year’s fixture list. Further details about these events and more will follow shortly. In the meantime, planning is well underway for the Green Belt relay and if you haven’t yet volunteered to run or support our team please don’t hesitate to let one of us know through the usual channels.
As we start the new club year we ask you to consider giving a small amount of your time to help the committee by either becoming a club officer (we’d like to make some changes to the committee so there are opportunities for all to take a role that interests you and uses your skills - it is a rich and rewarding thing to do and you’ll be helping your club and your community) or volunteering to help with organising events. From time to time it is important to refresh the club with new ideas and energy and your help would be greatly appreciated! Please contact one of the committee if you wish to discuss the opportunity to help in this way.
Look out for the membership renewal email after 1st April - we do hope you continue your membership. After the long winter months we look forward to seeing many of you in the weeks ahead as it warms up, there are more daylight hours and we see the ramp up in the number of events coinciding with the start of a new season.
Happy running!
Committee of the SHAEF Shifters Running Club
